A while back I sent out an astro-newsletter regarding the onset of an important planetary configuration, that of Saturn being in the opposite position in the sky to Neptune, with us on Earth in the middle.  Well, we are now right in thick of this ‘influence’, this interplanetary weather, and its effects are very noticeable. September 2008 I have a book coming out which is about this and other types of planetary weather that will be affecting us through a highly critical period in human history.  This is mainly indicated by a configuration between Uranus and Pluto that persists from now until 2020, and was last with us during the 1960s!  Anyhow, it kicks off with this Saturn/Neptune weather - or ‘Wave’ as I now call all these influences – and this will carry on until the summer of 2008.

From my book - which is called Understanding The Future - here is an extract about this Saturn/Neptune Wave which we are now in the middle or peak of.  It is the section called ‘The Mood of this Time’, and I think you will find it interesting and useful.  You may want to look at how this Saturn/Neptune Wave - and the rest of the planets - are affecting you on a distinctly personal level.  So call me on 017687-72858 to arrange a session if you feel the need (and remember I do telephone consultations, which can also be recorded).  We can then explore how you can ride this Wave – and any others - and stay balanced, make sense of it, and actually have it take you somewhere positive.

The Mood of this Time - The Balance of Power Within You

Saturn is a very ‘earthy’ planet of reason and order, while Neptune is a very ‘watery’ one of imagination, sensitivity, otherworldliness and oneness.  So while these two planets are interacting, things can get like muddy water! It is hard to be clear about what you think and how you feel.  Issues in the outer world will manifest this muddiness as deadlocks and difficulties in getting matters to reach resolution or realisation.  And like mud, this time makes things sticky in that it is hard to deal with things cleanly and easily, and affairs get bogged down with convolutions and weird agendas.  It is hard to see where anything is coming from or going to – or if they are going anywhere at all. Consequently, it is easy to get disheartened, frustrated and overwhelmed by feelings of pointlessness, helplessness or inertia.

Remember that the trick with muddy water is not to stir it up in a vain attempt to get through, round or beyond it quicker than is possible, because it’ll just make it even muddier.  In other words, resist the temptation to resolve or explain anything that is plainly resisting your attempts to do just this.  Relax, surrender, withdraw. Come back a bit later once you have done this and try again.  If it is still muddy, then relax, surrender, and withdraw again.  Leave it a bit longer this time.  Meditate upon or attune to what the situation is really calling for rather than jumping to conclusions or acting impulsively and making matters worse.  Time passing and time limits can be very illusory during this period, so don’t feel pressured unless it is absolutely obvious that you are ‘against the clock’.

You may notice that confusion in the outer world is down to people not doing just this; that is, they make things worse by trying to force issues.  As someone once said ‘Most of the ills of this world are caused by a man not being able to sit alone in his room and do nothing’. Unfortunately, this ‘muddying of the waters’ can actually be deliberate as certain people seek to capitalise on unclear lines of demarcation, something which are the hallmark of Saturn/Neptune Waves.  A classic example of this took place in March 2007 with Iran taking captive fifteen British marines and sailors who had supposedly strayed out of Iraq waters into Iranian ones.  From a ‘planetary lore’ perspective, the appropriate response from Britain would have been to have simply surrendered to this, said sorry that a ‘mistake’ was made or misunderstanding created, and that would have resolved it.  But trying to force or fudge the issue – that is, wavering between being firm (Saturn) or acquiescent (Neptune) just made matters worse with a loss of face on Britain’s part.  A case of misjudgement – which to be fair is all too easy under Saturn/Neptune where you can be hung if you do and hung if you don’t – that was compounded by allowing the sailors to sell their ‘stories’ to the media. Interestingly though, the instinct of the marines on board was to surrender in the first place, to not engage, something which was criticised by government and pundits later with the benefit of hindsight, and wrongly so from a planetary standpoint.  It doesn’t take much imagination to see that the sailors opening fire in the face of the Iranian superior weaponry would have had disastrous consequences. The big secret with Saturn and Neptune is to realise that you gain the higher moral ground by not taking issue, or at least, by agreeing to differ.  Maybe this is what finally happened between negotiators in the last few days before the release of the fifteen on April 4th,  - aided, I must say, by a brief but favourable wind from Jupiter!  It is worth pointing out that Saturn/Neptune also brings up issues concerning illusions (Neptune) about what is appropriate or in authority (Saturn).

During Saturn/Neptune Planet-Waves such as this one it is a time for ‘Acceptance with Limitations’, and so the Mood of the Time can be a sense of resignation to the fact that things will work themselves out if one does not struggle too much with them, recognising how Time (Saturn) and Flow (Neptune) and subtly intertwined.  However, to accept things too readily by taking everything lying down can earn one the reputation of being a soft touch or pushover.  Conversely, to dig one’s heels in would simply get one bogged down. Finding the balance here is very difficult, which is why a Saturn/Neptune Wave is hard to ride – and why you might require personal assistance in riding it.  Generally speaking though, the Balance of Power Chart (enclosed) is very useful as an ongoing aid here.

A Saturn/Neptune Wave is, in the end, all about transcending boundaries. This can mean a number of things, such as this section (in the book) describes across the board, but ultimately it is about taking to a higher level what we regard as reality itself.  What we think matters may very well not actually matter, it is just that we have been led to believe that it matters.  This blurring of the line between ‘real’ and ‘not real’ can of course make the Mood of this Time feel quite unreal, even to the point of feeling that the world has gone mad – or madder than usual.  The old question arises of whether the inmates are running the asylum.  The fact is that the demarcation between what is real or unreal, acceptable or unacceptable, sane or insane, is all in the confines of your own mind – and wherever that might begin and end!  Quantum Physics says that you make your own reality (see Observer Created Reality on page??) and a Saturn/Neptune Wave drives this points home, leaving you high and dry or totally at sea, depending on what reality you are choosing, consciously or unconsciously.

Another classic, but less obvious, example of how a Saturn/Neptune Wave can make itself felt was in the Virginia Tech massacre of April 2007.  This has to do with that ‘demarcation between what is real or unreal, sane and insane’ just mentioned.  In a conventional, Saturnian, sense, the killer Cho Seung-Hui was decidedly insane - insanity belonging astrologically to the province of otherworldly Neptune.  Saturn equals normality and consensus reality, while Neptune does not recognise such limited concepts and can either be inspired and inspiring or plain mad with typical voices in the head.  The point here is that these two worlds of so-called normality and abnormality, of order and chaos, come into collision during a Saturn/Neptune Wave.  Cho Seung-Hui definitely fell beyond the pale of Saturn’s normality, and he wanted to get back at that normality for locking him out, for not accepting him.  His strangeness attracted scorn from other ‘normal’ students, with them laughing at his peculiar deep voice and jeering ‘Go back to China!’ (he actually came from South Korea).  None of this is aimed at excusing Cho of his horrific deeds, but symbolically it makes the point that where there is a dangerous rift or gap between the normal world of inclusion and acceptance by one’s peers on the one hand, and the comparatively strange netherworld of the misfit on the other hand, then expect the latter to react against the former when a Saturn/Neptune Wave is rolling in.  Cho declared in his video made about the killings: ’You forced me into a corner and gave me only one option. The decision was yours.  Now you have blood on your hands that will never wash off’.  To dismiss this and rest of his ‘rantings’, and say that it was wrong to broadcast them, is to miss the point that this Saturn/Neptune event is and was making.  This Wave is saying – screaming – that we cannot afford to be complacent because we reside within the confines of Saturn’s conformity and normality.  The Saturnian ‘dam’ can only hold back the Neptunian ‘water’ for so long.  And so the ‘message in a bottle’ that this Saturn/Neptune Wave is carrying is this: We have to let some of that water through – we have to identify, acknowledge, accept and understand the Cho’s of this world, because when they want to hit back at feelings of exclusion they won’t play by any rules.  Rules belong to the very domain they are assailing.  And they are rules which are designed to keep ‘us’ in and the likes of ‘him’ out.  And the ‘likes of him’ resemble the melting icecaps which are that other more obvious expression of this boundary-dissolving Wave.  Ice doesn’t need holding back or containing; water does – or rather, it must somehow be channelled usefully or harmlessly in a particular direction.

Cho’s individual birth chart reveals someone with a sensitive and fantasy-prone mentality.  But it also shows someone with a score to settle, and an uncompromising urge to attain power and use it against whatever that mentality sees as offending it.  In a world where one such as him was recognised, such a mind and urge could have been schooled towards very creative and healing ends.  In other words, his potential was that of a sensitive mind and a powerful will, but its reality became one of a paranoid mind and a vengeful will.  A considerable amount of the cause of terrorism and criminality in general can be laid at the door of this kind of exclusion or lack of ‘respect’ of a certain personality type, for many a bomber or mugger is hitting back at a system or society that represents everything that he wants but is not allowed to have or be a part of – while doing so in the guise of gaining status in the group to which they have attached themselves, whether it belongs to a religious or drugs/drink culture.

The Mood of this Time that is created by such an event as the Virginia Tech massacre can give rise to a waking up to what is wrong with our world, such has just been described, and doing something about it, individually and collectively – starting with just a critical change in our attitude. And such an attitude could be summed up by our Saturn/Neptune key phrase ‘Acceptance with Limitations’.  Yet another contributing factor is disclosed by the Saturn/Neptune Wave.  This is the glamorous, escapist and fantasy ridden world of advertisement, film or religious fervour – all negative expressions of the Neptunian archetype – as they run into the brick wall of reality provided by Saturn.  In other words, the influence of these Neptunian negatives upon impressionable minds reaches critical mass.  What is needed therefore is the practice and installation of positive Neptunian expressions such as gentle and compassionate spirituality, prayer and meditation, creative use of the imagination, and the acceptance of what is different as being enriching rather than threatening.

To sum up, the Mood of this Time is, from Saturn’s pragmatic, separative and needful-of-order standpoint, one of uncertainty – which is very apt considering this Wave is, as mentioned above, the prologue to the great Uranus/Pluto Mother Wave of profound change 2007-2020.  The image springs to mind of a lookout on an inadequate seawall espying an approaching tsunami. From Neptune’s diametrically opposite, more all-inclusive and metaphysical viewpoint, the Mood of this Time is that of certainty – that what needs to be cleansed or laid bare will be, and that a spiritual understanding and acceptance of all life being sacred and equally worthwhile, and subtly and profoundly interconnected, is the only way forward.

You can see that this is a ‘tricky’ time, rather like having to find one’s way across a treacherous swamp!  So call me on 017687-72858 if you need some guidance from above!

All the Very Best Lyn
